Diploma in Swim Teaching


The Diploma qualification is recommended by Swimming New Zealand as the highest qualification for all professional teachers of swimming in New Zealand.

 

Pre-Requisite for Commencing Diploma 

To start your Diploma in Swim Teaching, you must:

  • Hold a minimum of 3 new or 4 old  New Zealand Certificate in Swim Teaching modules   
  • Hold a current First Aid certificate (US6401 & US6402)
  • Have applied to Swimming New Zealand and paid the required application fee
  • Have completed 500 logged teaching hours. Hours must be logged on the approved Swimming New Zealand Form
  • The 500 logged hours can only be started once the last NZCST module has been awarded.
  • Submit a proposed research topic for approval.
  • Be a minimum of 18 years of age.



Following completion of enrolment procedures the candidate is to submit a proposal outlining their chosen topic for research. This topic, once completed, needs be of value to other swim teachers. Your research project will be made available to industry providers throughout Swimming New Zealand.
