The start of something extraordinary

Swim Rotorua get into the spirit of themed race night

Swim Rotorua added some spirited fun to their recent race night with a Halloween theme.

Swimmers began the race night with a parade to show off their costume with prizes going to the best dressed.

Over 65 athletes entered the night which included events like Freaky Freestyle, Bloodthirsty Breaststroke, Batty Backstroke among many other scary events.

The fun pair events, like the truck and trailer race, proved very popular with some people 'ghosting' past the officials to race at least twice.

Swimmers can enter as many or as few of the races as they like on race nights and if they can’t dive yet that is no problem. It is all about having fun and getting a time to try to beat next time.

Swim club members also invited their friends along to the race night. This was a fantastic and very fun way to introduce new people to the swim club and the excitement of racing.

Club members were able to compete and dress up for the all-important team points.

For their next race night Swim Rotorua will be sparking up the night with a fireworks theme.
