Swimmers recognised at college sports awards

Junior Pan Pacific Championship, Youth Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimmers have been recognised at their recent regional college sports awards.

Carter Edgecombe, who competed at the Junior Pan Pacs in Hawaii this year, picked up Swimmer Sportsman of the Year at the Waikato Secondary Schools Awards.

Paige Flynn was the Swimmer Sportswoman of the Year.

Edgecombe’s fellow Junior Pan Pacific team mate, Ben Walsh, was named the male Swimmer of the Year at the 2014 College Sport Wellington Sportsperson of the Year Awards.

Josie Kozyniak was the female swimmer of the year.

Also collecting an award from the Waikato region was Commonwealth Games team member Nikita Howarth who received the Disability Sports Sportswoman of the Year Award.

Jesse Reynolds claimed the Disability Sport Sportsman of the Year Award.

 

At the Hawkes Bay Secondary Schools Sportsperson of the Year Awards Youth Olympic bronze medallist Bobbi Gichard took home the Shoe Clinic Female of the Year Award.

Junior Pan Pacific swimmers Dominic Mildon and Rebekah Bradley and Youth Olympic Games swimmers Gabrielle Fa’amausili and Jacob Garrod have been announced as finalists for the ASB Young Sportsperson of the Year Awards, along with Jane Ip, Jarred Curtis and Para-Swimmer Tayla Clement.
