The start of something extraordinary

NZ Opens Wrap

Day 3 Wrap

Tom W. and Bryony were our representatives in the pool today – Tom in the 50m breaststroke and Bryony in the 200m breaststroke. Bryony’s morning swim saw her qualify for her first Opens A Final. She battled hard in the evening final and finished in 6th place.

Day 4 Wrap

In action for the final day of the meet were Ruby and Bryony. Ruby, swimming at Opens for the first time, swam hard and held her own in the 400 free and 200 fly. Bryony’s last race of the meet was the 100 breaststroke. She was placed 11th.

Being at Opens was a very valuable experience especially for our young Wellington swimmers. It was exciting to be part of a meet which resulted in 16 swimmers being selected for the New Zealand Commonwealth Games team. We were treated to some outstanding swimming. We celebrated with those who were successful and felt the pain of those who narrowly missed out on qualifying.
