Swimming legends to go head to head in charity relay

This coming February Swimming New Zealand is bringing back the Legends Charity Relay.

The Legends Relay will bring together eight teams of past New Zealand swimmers, along with some other New Zealand sporting greats, to raise funds for charities and then compete for honours in the pool between sessions at the 2015 Zonal Championships.

Like the Zonal Championships, the Legends Relay will also be broadcast live on SKY Sport.

The inaugural Legends Relay took place in 2010 with the winning team raising over $9,000 for their charity (Arthritis New Zealand), a high target for teams to aim for this time around.

The charities taking part in the 2015 Legends Relay are the New Zealand Swimming Trust, Arthritis New Zealand, Parkinson’s New Zealand, The Asthma Foundation, Diabetes New Zealand, Stroke Foundation of New Zealand, Surf Life Saving New Zealand and Organ Donation New Zealand.

Keep an eye out in the coming weeks for full teams to be announced.

Find the Legends Relay on the Swimming New Zealand website here.

To donate to your favourite team or charity head to the Legends Relay event on Givealittle.

Donations will close on Sunday 8th February.
