The start of something extraordinary

Redwood Primary School students get into the swimming spirit

Earlier this month Redwood Primary School students Ruby, Elise and Kate competed with their peers at the schools Swimming Sports held at the Jellie Park Sport and Recreation Centre in Christchurch.

Ruby was very excited leading up to the event asking Canterbury Swim Safe Advisor Tracey Hickman for a few tips to give her that winning edge.

Tracey and Ruby discussed how to easily put on her State Kiwi Swim Safe swimming cap, the importance of a good streamline off her dives and turns and to keep a continuous kick.

Ruby was very happy to report that she came away with many firsts, some very close seconds and thoroughly enjoyed competing against her friends.

If the children at your school also enjoy the competitive nature of swimming please check out the local swimming clubs within your area, please click here for a list of regions and clubs.
