The start of something extraordinary

Swimming

The Blenheim Swimming Club (BSC) works closely with Stadium 2000 who provide quality swimming lessons and coaching for our members.

Younger BSC members who are progressing through the Stadium's swimming school can request an assessment at our Club nights to join the AquaStart class in addition to their normal swimming lesson. AquaStart is for BSC members only.  Competent swimmers who have completed the highest level of the swimming school (Level 12, Omaka Octopus) may move into the Development Squad, training two to three times a week (including AquaStart).  When ready, swimmers will progress through the squad levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold).  Gold Squad swimmers are our most experienced members, usually training 5 plus times a week plus dryland (gym and core) work.  They are focussed on achieving at South Island and National level.

Check out the training timetable here.

Club nights are held twice a school term and offer assessment for new swimmers, some fun games and racing and the opportunity to meet other swimmers.

BSC usually holds monthly swim meets for all club and competitive swimmers. These meets are opportunities for swimmers to work on their goals such as specific techniques, improving their PB (personal best) times, starts and turns, breakouts etc. They are not always about coming first in a race!  Competitive swimmers may use these meets to try to achieve qualifying times for higher level meets. Swimmers can also enter meets held by other clubs in our region. ( Nelson South, Waimea, Motueka, Kaikoura, Golden Bay and Tasman Swimming Clubs).

Our regional body, Swimming Nelson Marlborough, host three major meets per season for all clubs in our region : the SNM Winter Meet,  SNM Country and Town Meet and  SNM Age Group Champs.  Trophies and ribbons are awarded at these meets.

BSC also runs the annual BSC Champs and trophies from this competition are presented at our annual prize giving at the end of the season.
