The start of something extraordinary

Snyders into semifinals in Doha

Double Olympian Glenn Snyders has qualified through to the semifinals on the penultimate day of the FINA World Short Course Championships in Doha.

The North Shore swimmer, who is based in Los Angeles, clocked an excellent 26.61 seconds to be ninth fastest in heats of the 50m breaststroke, to earn a place in the semifinals on the evening programme.

His time is only 0.3s outside his own national record set at the New Zealand Championships in September, and equalled his previous best at the FINA World Cup two years ago.

Fastest was Great Britain's Adam Peaty in 26.07s, who will start in the second semifinal with Snyders.
