The start of something extraordinary

West Harbour Swim School instructors upskill with SNZ course

Three instructors from the West Harbour Swim School, Dunedin have just upgraded to their Swimming New Zealand Swim Teacher Award (STA) and will soon receive their National Certificate in Sport and Recreation – Aquatics (Swim Education).

One of their instructors, Licia, is now an Evidence Gatherer with Swimming New Zealand (SNZ) which means she can support her team even more when completing their STA.

Being an Evidence Gatherer allows Licia to collect evidence on her swim teachers while completing their STA both in and out of the water. This evidence then goes to the Swimming New Zealand assessors who award the STA.

West Harbour Swim School was established in 2012 and now has over 180 people enrolled in lessons every week.

The SNZ Quality Swim School is based out of Port Chalmers Pool, Dunedin and provides for swimmers from pre-school to adults and everyone in between from the Port Chalmers area.

They also have strong links to the Port Chalmers Swim Club.
