The student Nannies are all completing a Certificate in Early Childhood Education through the New Zealand Career College.
The College see water safety and water confidence as a vital learning element of their course and for the Nannies; it provides an opportunity to learn about bath time activities, beach safety, river safety and basic swimming skills.
Each Nanny attends a full day course with Swimming New Zealand which covers:
Drowning in New Zealand
Pre-Schoolers and Bath time
Natural Aquatic Hazards
River Safety
Surf Safety
Building Confidence in the Water
Planning and Risk Management
Sun Smart
They also attend a pool session which give them lots of tips and ideas that they could do when they take young children to the pool.
Swimming New Zealand has been providing this course for the past 6 years and is thrilled to see the Nannies develop and gain in confidence.
