Kiwi age group swimmers in action across Tasman

Te Awamutu swimmer Vanessa Ouwehand enjoyed three individual victories at the Victorian Age Group Championships in the first two days of competition over the weekend.

Ouwehand claimed the top spots in the girls 14 year old 200m individual medley (2:23.83), 100m butterfly (1:03.96) and the 200m backstroke (2:18.24).

Also enjoying a first place finish was Joshua Taylor-Martin (Enterprise) in the boys 15 year old 100m freestyle coming home in 52.26. His time also breaking a New Zealand age group record.

Other podium finishes went to Thomas Chaney (Otumoetai) in the 14 year olds 100m butterfly (1:01.84, 3.), Joshua Gilbert (Stratford) in the 13 year olds 200m breaststroke (2:37.42, 2) and Tom Moulder (Parnell) in the 16 year olds 400m freestyle (4:11.69, 2).

Also making finals in the first two days of the meet was Michael Woods (Te Awamutu), Daniel Caldwell (St Peters), Christopher Johnson (Stratford), Josh McCormack-Goeth (St Peters), James Litchfield (St Peters), Chelsea Ouwehand (Te Awamutu), Libby Bradley (Greerton), Maggie Franks (Central Hawkes Bay), Grace Eglinton (Mt Maunganui), Millie MacDonald (Parnell), Joshua Pickett (Otumoetai) and Jacques Gichard (Greendale).

More than 40 New Zealand swimmers are competing at the Victorian Age Group Championships which conclude on the 18th of December.
