The start of something extraordinary

Swimathon support outstanding

Rotary Rotorua Sunrise in partnership with Swim Rotorua and the Rotorua Aquatic Centre held their annual fundraising swimathon in glorious sunshine today for the Interntational END POLIO NOW FUND.
Swim Rotorua are proud to be able to help Rotary Rotorua Sunrise in this important goal, as every dollar raised is matched by a two dollar donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
30 swimmers and siblings from Swim Rotorua Junior Academy, development, fun and fitness and performance squads, advanced training machines and Club Presidents past and present turned out joining other swimmers to raise funds,
Many personal challenges were met as several of our swimmers covered distances beyond what they thought they were able to do. Stella Weston completed her goal of 2km, taking mum along for the trip! Alex Cameron completed 2km, Hayley MacCormick 5km with Kaitlyn Lamb managing 3.7km having just moved to gold squad! Sisters Jasmine and Hazel Hagen covered 3.6km and 4km respectively, Kaitlin Lang 2km, with Sequioa Dobson and Ali Clarke non stop swimming for 2km each.
Many thanks to Rotary for organising today's swim and for the refreshments poolside. we look forward to seeing you all again next year!
