The start of something extraordinary

Aorangi School stay warmer this summer

Aorangi School is staying warmer in the water during swimming lessons thanks to State Insurance and Swimming New Zealand who donated 50 swimming caps to the school.

Keeping warmer in the water means the students can learn more and make the most out of their swimming lessons.

Aorangi School teachers deliver their own swimming lessons at the Rotorua Aquatic Centre in the outdoor 50m pool.  Every year the school buses three classrooms at a time to the pool to experience the water and learn to become safer in, on, and around the water.

Aorangi School has been a State Kiwi Swim Safe school since 2011 and their swimming skills continue to improve. One teacher was almost at a loss as to what to teach the top ability group until SNZ Swim Safe Advisor, Erin, started to work on breaststroke and survival skills from the State Kiwi Swim Safe manual.

The students really look forward to their time spent in the water and really appreciate the new swimming caps.
