Four swimmers make finals at Australian Age Champs

Two medals and a national record sparked the fifth day for Kiwi swimmers at the Australian Age Group Championships in Sydney.

Leading the way was Palmerston North 14 year old Mya Rasmussen (Kiwi West) who won gold in the 400m individual medley, clocking 4:57.21.

Nelson’s Sam McKenzie, 15, won a silver medal in the 200m freestyle to follow his gold medal earlier in the meet. The Tasman club swimmer was timed at a personal best 1:54.32.

The New Zealand record went to Stratford’s Joshua Gilbert with the 13 year old timed at 1:09.99 in the final of the 100m breaststroke while Wellington’s Chelsea Edwards, 13, finished fifth in the 50m freestyle in 27.39.
