The start of something extraordinary

Koru sails the Bluebridge Ferry

The Swimming New Zealand Learn to Swim team spent two days sailing on the Bluebridge Ferry during the school holidays.

With the help of Koru the Kiwi, the team aimed to educate children about swimming and water safety as part of the partnership between Swimming NZ and Bluebridge.

Children were taught water safety and swimming skills on dry land which included how to fit a lifejacket. They also enjoyed completing fun and educational activity books, story time, and meeting Koru himself.

A clear highlight for the children was the colouring competition which Koru judged at the end of the trip.

Well done to all the children who participated and thank you to the Bluebridge staff who were very welcoming and accommodating. We look forward to the next school holiday crossings.
